about

This evocative piece by Peter Gabriel, with lyrics inspired by the personal and confessional works of the American poet Anne Sexton, has followed us since long before Autorickshaw was born. Suba first started performing Mercy Street as an a cappella duo in 1996. It evolved into a bass-and-voice duo with Dylan, then a live-looping, multi-voiced a cappella performance. They introduced this to Ed, and in a concert on the Arabian Sea, this Indo-inspired version was born.
