about

Composer Suba Sankaran

This song was inspired by, and composed on, a train ride from Unjalur (Oon-ja-loor) to Chennai, India in January 2003. Based in the traditional south Indian Sree raga (mode), Unjalur evokes the journey of Suba’s mother from her small village of Unjalur to the modern city of Toronto, Canada, where she resides today.
