about

Trichy Sankaran, commissioned by autorickshaw

This original work by master drummer Trichy Sankaran is composed in the raga Nalinakanthi, a non-linear scale, considered part of the Sankarabaranam raga family, akin to the western major scale. Based in Adi Tala, an 8-beat rhythm cycle, it features an unusual focal point that falls one eighth-note after the downbeat.
