about

Suba Sankaran, Ed Hanley

Heavy Traffic, based in the north Indian raga Bilaskhani Todi, is an experiment in improvisation and editing. At the end of every day in the recording studio, each guest musician improvised on this track, hearing only guide vocals, bass and drums. The resulting 64 tracks of audio were then woven together by Ed Hanley and Suba Sankaran—a week-long voyage of unexpected twists and turns.
